Kim joins us with over twenty years of experience in First Nations Band Management. Kim offers a unique blend of leadership, vision and knowledge. Prior to joining Nations, Kim oversaw the management of several businesses and projects and has completed the Master Certificate in Project Management. Kim held the role of Office and Finance Manager and everything in between! As the person responsible for the successful operation of the Band Office, Kim had to have working knowledge of all positions from Economic Development to Community Health Representative. Kim worked with and established many positive relationships with federal, provincial and local representatives. She has a thorough understanding of varying levels of government policies and procedures.
Kim is also a Subway franchise owner and recently celebrated their tenth year as franchisees. Kim and her husband Wes Sam (Nations’ Founder) have been together for 28 years and have four children. They have been working together for the past twenty years and are excited to be moving forward with Nations which has been on their plate for more than six years.
Kim believes in grassroots projects and providing support to help individuals meet their full potential. Kim served on the Carrier Sekani Family Services Board of Directors for many years, taking on the roles of Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer during her time there. Kim played an integral role in the summer of 2018 when the region had their worst wildfires of recent history by providing for the establishment of a Group Lodging facility which provided accommodation and community meals for the evacuees, volunteers and fire personnel. Kim is currently completing her Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator designation.
